SAP Reorganizes Product and Engineering Leadership to Accelerate AI Strategy

SAP has undergone a major reorganization of its product and engineering leadership, with changes taking effect on July 1, 2026. These shifts are designed to align the company's structure with its aggressive "ALL IN on AI" strategy and its vision for an "AI-driven Autonomous Enterprise."

The restructuring involves centralizing key AI, platform, and application functions under new leadership. Notably, a new board area for the Business AI Platform and CTO organization has been created, led by SAP Extended Board Member Philipp Herzig. This move aims to establish a clearer leadership center for AI architecture and platform consistency.

Additionally, the Partner Ecosystem Success Unit, led by Karl Fahrbach, will transition from the Strategy and Operations board area to the Customer Value Group, reporting to Chief Customer Officer Thomas Saueressig. This change is intended to bring partner functions closer to customer success.

These organizational adjustments follow earlier shifts in SAP's commercial organization and the announced departure of Head of Product & Engineering Muhammad Alam in 2027. The company is proactively reallocating responsibilities to ensure a smooth transition and accelerate its AI roadmap.
